ECP is a non-invasive modality approved by Medicare and most insurance companies which restores the blood supply to areas of the heart which are served by an occluded coronary artery. This results in significant improvement of symptoms including shortness of breath, chest pain, pressure and fatigue in over 85% of patients.
The patients are required to present to the Brick office of SHG 5 days a week for 7 weeks ie 35 sessions. During these sessions a set of mast trousers are placed on the lower extremities and the distal pelvis whereby counterpulsation is timed to the cardiac cycle. An experienced ECP technician supervises each session in a comfortable and caring environment.
